Tempest has two types of passwords. One for your sync account, and one for your vault.

  1. The sync account is used for isolating your user data synced online, and you can simply reset it via . It's required while signing in online.

  2. The vault password is used to encrypt your data on your device before synchronization, ensuring end-to-end encryption. It is required when Tempest successfully signs in and begins syncing data or when switching to a new shared vault. This password is non-recoverable, meaning that if you forget it, all your data will be permanently lost.

If you have access to the vault and it's current password

You can reset your vault password on Tempest Desktop by going to: Settings → Account → Change Vault Password

If you don't have access to the vault or it's current password
